American Women During World War II
Human rights abuses were brought into light during the World War II time period (d1939-1945). The tragedies which occurred during this time were horrific to say the least but sparked change around the world.During the Holocaust more than 6 million people were brutally murdered with prejudice as the only justification. Today, people around the world look back on the atrocities that occurred during the 1940's and use it as an example of the existence of a world that should never be tolerated again. While the improvements made towards human rights immediately following World War II were major accomplishments towards the end goal of truly universal human right, it left much to be desire by under represented groups.

American Women
During World War Two in the United States there was a enormous need for workers after the massive amount of employed people went to fight in the war. Women were called to duty in order to help the war effort and sustain the American economy. Millions of women across the country stepped up and took on the working roles of their male counter parts in this time of desperation. Women's primary responsibility up until this time was to maintain their homes and raisem children. Due to the fact their efforts were now split between a job and a family it strained the family unit. Women entering the work force seemed to have been a sign of major progression in the fight for equality between the sexes. But, women in the United States during World War Two got little to no aid from the government to assist them with their additional responsibilities. Women were not given subsidized child care or equal pay for the work they were doing. Among other injustices women in the United States were not given the help necessary to keep up with their families and homes while having a job. In addition to poor support from the government, upon the end of the war and return of men, the women who had become employed during the war ended up loosing their jobs to males. Not only were women put at a disadvantage in the working world during the war but were given no job security after the war ended.
